Design - Matt Evans Landscapes

Our latest project transforms a hidden courtyard behind a Grade II listed Art Deco cinema into a serene Secret Garden.

​

Drawing inspiration from Studio Ghibli's overgrown and enchanting woodland landscapes, this space will feature a grove of Staphylea spp. (Bladdernuts) which will appear to push up through the existing yorkstone paving. Beneath the canopies of the Bladdernuts a rich tapestry of woodland plants will slowly fill the space to create a intimate and welcoming experience for visitors. 

Inspired by the cinema's Victorian façade, handcrafted terracotta wall tiles will form focal points throughout the garden and pay homage to the cinemas rich history.
